If you are looking for a gift for the car enthusiast, Mid America Dragway in Kansas is for sale. For the respectable sum of $ 1.5 million, you can own a fully functioning dragway without having to start from scratch.
By a Mid America Dragway Facebook post, owners Jim, Marcia, Chris and Jasmine Maybrier have been selling their dragway which has been hosting races since the mid-60s. The decision was not easy for the family, but health problems seem to be the ultimate culprit to pull the trigger and relinquish ownership.
âThe main goal here is to pass the torch to someone else who can run with it. We don’t want to see any disruption in the opening and operation of the track. Although the Maybrier name is no longer synonymous with ownership, the family still aspires as much as possible to be a part of the Kansas dragway. The Facebook post mentions that they are ready to help the buyer with their operations to ensure a smooth transition. The Maybrier family also mentions that they still want to run on the track and sponsor events through their business.
The purchase would get you about 66 acres of land that includes a 300 foot cement launch pad that turns into asphalt. You’ll also get all of the buildings and amenities located by the wayside, some of which include air-conditioned bathrooms and concession facilities. The track itself also features concrete barriers and lights positioned along the dragway to provide nighttime events.
Mid America Dragway is located about an hour south of Wichita and about an hour and a half from Stillwater Oklahoma positioned on the south side of Highway 166. In what was then a live video, in mid-November Chris broke the moving news to his family of racers and those who have supported the track time and time again. His announcement comes about 10 minutes later.
