“What we really missed last year were the fans. There’s no better place to come and enjoy an outdoor activity than horse racing at Ruidoso Downs,” Keithley said with a smile on his face.

A Quarter Horse travels a quarter mile at full speed. Memorial Day weekend at Ruidoso Downs Racecourse features the best two- and three-year-old quarter horses in the world.

It’s a $3 million run that’s the richest quarter horse in the United States, according to Keithley.

For fans who want to get a piece of the action by placing bets.

A pro tip, there is no wrong way to play.

Keithley adds “That’s the part I enjoy the most, everyone has an opinion.”

Beginners can expect to enjoy the atmosphere, it’s great to enjoy a day.

Although you can watch the races online, nothing beats live sports.

“You can’t quite get the same enthusiasm out of it. You’re a few feet, I mean feet from a quarter horse standing on a rail, watching that quarter horse go by, there’s no better thrill,” Keithley said.
